FC Barcelona Set to Play Historic Game at Partially Completed Camp Nou on Saturday
Barcelona have announced they are set to host at the still-under-construction Camp Nou this Saturday. The club will host Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish league over two years following their departure to allow renovations to start.
“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity with 45,401 fans can be present as per the current authorization. After final construction, the Camp Nou is due to hold over 104,000 attendees, up from the previous 99,000. The club said completed upgrades featured a renovated tunnel for players and new dressing rooms.
Preparatory Events
Barcelona held an open training session at the Camp Nou in early November. The club said they are seeking authorization from European football’s governing body to play their next home Champions League game facing Eintracht in December at the stadium. Previous fixtures took place at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
